A formal Memorandum of Understanding was signed last week between Elliniki Engineering Academy and the Technical Chamber of Greece (Τεχνικό Επιμελητήριο Ελλάδος — TEE), the country's largest professional body of engineers, opening EEA students' access to one of Greece's most established engineering networks.
The agreement, signed at the TEE headquarters on Nikis Street in Athens on Thursday morning, was concluded between Prof. Dimitris Vlachos, founding rector of EEA, and TEE President George Stasinos. Under its terms, every EEA student will gain access to TEE mentorship pairings from their second year of study and free participation in TEE's continuing-professional-development workshops throughout their degree.
"Six months into our existence, EEA is putting in place the institutional foundations that we will rely on for decades," said Prof. Vlachos at the signing. "There is no more important relationship for a Greek engineering school than the one with the country's chartered engineers. This MoU formalises what has been a deep and very productive working relationship from day one."
President Stasinos described the partnership as "a natural step. The Greek engineering profession needs more, not fewer, ambitious training institutions, and we welcome EEA into the wider professional community. Our 130,000 members are now also EEA's mentors."
The Technical Chamber of Greece is the official advisor of the Greek state on matters of technical, scientific and developmental policy, and is the statutory body for the registration and recognition of professional engineers in Greece. Founded in 1923, it has around 130,000 members across all engineering disciplines.
