Live, learn, and build in the heart of ancient Attica.
Peania (Παιανία) is a town of around 16,000 residents in East Attica, traditionally known as the birthplace of the ancient Athenian orator Demosthenes. Today it sits at the intersection of the Athens technology corridor: the Athens International Airport is 8 km to the east, the Athens metro Line 3 terminus at Doukissis Plakentias is 6 km west, and the centre of Athens is 30 minutes away.
The town centre is small but lively — a handful of tavernas, three coffee shops on the main square, a Sunday produce market, and (a particular favourite of the founding student class) the Vorres Museum, a remarkable collection of Greek folk and contemporary art ten minutes from campus on foot.
EEA's founding class has already chartered 14 student organisations.

EEA does not yet operate its own residence — construction of our 250-bed student residence is scheduled for autumn 2027. In the meantime, our Office of Student Affairs partners with three serviced student-housing operators in the surrounding municipalities (Peania, Paiania, Glyka Nera, and Spata). Admitted students receive housing application links eight weeks before the term begins, with average rents of €380 – €650 / month for a shared apartment.
Our Student Centre cafeteria operates Monday – Friday 08:00 – 19:00 and offers Mediterranean lunch menus at a subsidised flat price of €5.50 (€3.50 for need-based-bursary holders). Two coffee shops, a bakery, and three tavernas on the Peania main square — all within ten minutes of campus — round out the daily options.
An EEA student-led food cooperative ("Δημητριακή") operates a weekly direct-from-producer fruit and vegetable order. Many staff and students join.
The campus has an outdoor 5-a-side football pitch, a full basketball court, and an outdoor multi-purpose court. EEA has a partnership agreement with the Peania Municipal Swimming Pool (subsidised access for all students) and with the Nautical Club of Vouliagmeni (sailing). A 350 m² indoor gym is part of the phase-two construction scheduled for completion in 2027.
The EEA Counselling Service is open Monday – Friday with one full-time licensed psychologist and a part-time consultant. All consultations are confidential and free for enrolled students.
Living in Peania puts every major Athenian cultural venue within easy reach: the Athens Concert Hall, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, the National Theatre, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art are all 30 – 50 minutes by metro or car. The Acropolis itself is forty minutes away. Closer to campus, the Vorres Museum (10 minutes on foot) is a remarkable collection of Greek folk and contemporary art set in a beautiful courtyard, and the Markopoulo wine region is fifteen minutes by car.
EEA respects every spiritual tradition. A quiet/prayer room is open daily in the Student Centre. The historic Church of the Holy Apostles of Peania (10 minutes' walk from campus) is the principal Orthodox parish. The Athens Catholic Cathedral, the Athens Synagogue, and the Athens Central Mosque are all within reach of central Athens.
